Addressing Hazardous Situations
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7)
WHO Classification of Hazards
In 2020, we all learned the impossible can happen. As a result, we are always mindful of the hazards that may befall us. Such hazards include: Geophysical (Earthquake), Hydrological (Floods), Meteorological (Storms), Biological (Pandemics), Extraterrestrial (Meteorite), Technological (Chemical Spills, Building Collapse, Fire, Infrastructure), Societal (Civil Unrest, Terrorism), and Environmental (Extreme Pollution/Smoke-Ash from Fire).
When Such Hazards Occur, TPC Will Be Guided By:
-
Love For God (Matt. 22:36-39; 1 Cor. 10:31)
-
Love For Ourselves (Matt. 22:39; think “Oxygen Mask Rule – ‘Put your oxygen mask on first’ – Why? If you run out of oxygen yourself, then you can’t help others.”)
-
Love For Our Neighbor (Matt. 22:39; Gal. 6:10)
Because of our love for God, ourselves, and our neighbors TPC will seek to honor the directives of the Federal Government, the State of Maryland, and the Baltimore County Executive (Romans 13), along with the scientists and the medical community. As necessary, TPC will close its facility, will suspend its ministries and events, and may even cancel public worship services to protect the health of our church family.
Such actions will remain in place until recommendations from our government leaders, our public health officials, and medical experts declare the resumption of activities to be safe. During pandemics, priority will be given to the counsel of respected medical doctors and scientists.
We step forward in faith. God is with us as we seek His protection, and as we discern how best to love our neighbors during such hazardous times.
